By using the CleanBC Better Homes website and accessing the Energy Coach service, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to the following:
The CleanBC Better Homes website is administered by the Province of British Columbia (the “Province”). The Energy Coach service is administered and delivered by British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority (“BC Hydro”).
FortisBC Inc. and FortisBC Energy Inc. do not fund or administer the CleanBC Better Homes website or Energy Coach service, however, they may promote the website or service through their own newsletters, website, and other marketing and outreach channels.
Translation support for navigating the CleanBC Better Homes website and accessing the Energy Coach service is delivered by Kambo Energy Group via the Empower Me program (“Empower Me”). In the event of any conflict or difference between the translated Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, the original English version will prevail.
Privacy
BC Hydro, on behalf of the Province, collects, uses, and discloses personal information for the purposes of delivering and evaluating the Energy Coach service in accordance with section 26(c) of the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA). If you have questions regarding your personal information, contact BC Hydro’s privacy officer at 333 Dunsmuir St, 3rd floor, Vancouver, BC, V6B 5R3.
Kambo Energy Group, on behalf of the Province, collects, uses, and discloses personal information for the purposes of providing translation support for the CleanBC Better Homes website and the Energy Coach service in accordance with FOIPPA. When you use the Energy Coach service, translation services or Better Homes website contact form, you may choose to provide BC Hydro, Kambo Energy Group, or the Province with information about yourself, including your name, address, phone number, and other information about your home or building upgrades, including your EnerGuide Rating System file number, so that BC Hydro, Kambo Energy Group, or the Province can deliver the service to you. Information can be provided through the online web form, email or by phone. Information will be stored for a period of two years from the date of your first inquiry with the Energy Coach.
You may be contacted by BC Hydro, Kambo Energy Group, or the Province by phone, email, direct mail or similar method for the purposes of administering, evaluating and researching all elements of the Energy Coach service anytime up to two years after your first inquiry with the Energy Coach. You can opt out of receiving communications anytime by contacting BC Hydro, Kambo Energy Group, or the Province, as applicable, and requesting to be unsubscribed.
The Province collects anonymous information using website analytics and other tracking tools about how visitors use the CleanBC Better Homes website in order to continually improve the website experience.
Limits of Liability
You are solely responsible for choosing products, services and contractors and understanding and applying for incentive programs, and for complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and bylaws when completing energy efficiency upgrades.
The information provided by the CleanBC Better Homes website and the Energy Coach service is general energy efficiency information and it is not a substitute for an EnerGuide home evaluation, professional advice, or quotes from licensed contractors. Prior to undertaking energy efficiency upgrades, you should confirm the information provided through the CleanBC Better Homes website or from the Energy Coach service with professionals who will provide you with recommendations and advice specific to your home and home improvement needs.
The Province, BC Hydro, Kambo Energy Group, FortisBC Inc., and FortisBC Energy Inc., (together, the “Program Entities”) do not make any representation or warranty about the accuracy, reliability, currency or completeness of any information or material contained on the CleanBC Better Homes website or on any linked site or provided through the Energy Coach service. Links to other websites from the CleanBC Better Homes website are inserted for convenience and do not constitute endorsement of material at those sites, or any associated organization, product or service.
By using the CleanBC Better Homes website and the Energy Coach service, you assume full responsibility for any changes made and/or equipment installed in your home, and you release the Program Entities from claims of any nature, including claims for injury or damages, suffered by any person arising from or occurring by reason of your use of the information provided by the CleanBC Better Homes website or the Energy Coach service or your participation in the program, receipt of funding, or installation or use or operation of any equipment. The Program Entities accept no responsibility for any loss resulting from any action taken or reliance made by you on any information or material supplied through the CleanBC Better Homes website or the Energy Coach service.
